Operation Snowshoe Chief Phil Winchester and his staff are planning another big weekend of Operation Snowshoe, a winter camping experience for 1st and 2nd year Webelos. To help your patrols make the decision to attend Operation Snowshoe, consider this:

FIELD EVENTS will transition this year from being strictly from the old Webelos program to the new Webelos and Arrow of Light Adventures including Cast Iron Chef; First Responder; Into the Woods; Camper; Castaway; and Building a Better World. There may also be some elements of the Scout and Tenderfoot Scout badges. Remember Operation Snowshoe is a learning / teaching experience so do not become preoccupied with preparing your boys for all events.

ANNUAL BSA HEALTH AND MEDICAL RECORDS (Form 680-001 / 2014 Printing) Parts A & B) will be required. Part A and Part B of the Annual BSA Health and Medical Records should be completed for all participants at Operation Snowshoe regardless of age. It is suggested that these health forms be completed now as the youth are getting physicals for school and sports. The form does NOT require the signature of a doctor. It is also suggested that each participant complete an ACTIVITY CONSENT FORM AND APPROVAL BY PARENTS OR LEGAL GUARDIAN (Form 680-673 / 2014 Printing). Parents are encouraged to keep a copy of this document to contact the leader in charge in case an emergency contact is needed.

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING is required of all adults participating in Operation Snowshoe. Training is available online through the council’s website (www.danielbonnecouncil.org) or at www.scouting.org.

MANDATORY ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING : The adult leader in charge and the field judge MUST attend the organizational meeting on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Scout Service Center, 333 W. Haywood Street; Asheville; NC 28801. Extra leaders and parents are encouraged to attend.

FUN! The staff is committed to making Operation Snowshoe 2018 worthy of all the previous 29 events rolled into one. We cannot guarantee it will not be cold and / or rainy but we can promise a lot of awards and a lot of fun.
