The 2024 District Banquet is used to help thank the many wonderful volunteers we have serving our youth. We will be holding the Banquet in the Pittman Dining Hall at Mars Hill University. Doors open at 4, with the Program beginning at 4:30. The cost is $20.

Below is a list of awards and what they are awarded for. To nominate someone for any of these awards, please submit the form below. The more details given the better the committee will be able to select the most deserving person. ALL NOMINATIONS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 7th by 5 PM.

Pack of the Year: Based on JTE. Each pack will need to submit the unit JTE form. The Pack(s) with the most JTE points submited will win this award
Troop of the Year: Based on JTE. Each Troop will need to submit the unit JTE form. The Troop(s) with the most JTE points submited will win this award
Cubmaster of the Year: This award is given to a Cubmaster (or Assistant) that has gone above and beyond doing everything they can to support our youth week to week.
Scoutmaster of the Year: This award is given to a Scoutmaster (or Assistant) that has gone above and beyond doing everything they can to support our youth week to week.
Rookie Cubmaster of the Year: This award is given to a Cubmaster that has gone above and beyond doing everything they can to support our youth week to week. The stipulation is this must be their first year in the role of Cubmaster.
Rookie Scoutmaster of the Year: This award is given to a Scoutmaster that has gone above and beyond doing everything they can to support our youth week to week. The stipulation is this must be their first year in the role of Scoutmaster.
Charter Organization of the Year: This award is given to Charter Organizations that support Scouting in more ways then one, they are always engaged in their units, and helping the scouts enjoy their time in Scouting.
Den Leader of the Year: his award is given to a Den Leader (or Assistant) that has gone above and beyond doing everything they can to support our youth week to week.
Unit Committee Member of the Year: This award is designed for a committee member that has supported the units success with all of the administrative, behind the scene work. They helped get the unit's Recharter turned in, or championed the popcorn/camp
Spark Plug Award is a district level award given out to any volunteer that helped keep the scouting spirt alive. These are parents that always bring the snack to den meetings, or a cubmaster that did an expetional job engaging the youth. To earn this award, you do not need to be a registered scouter.
Trail to Eagle Award is a district level award given out to a registered scouter that has mentored scouts (usually many scouts) to achieve the prestigous rank of Eagle Scout.

District Award of Merit: This is a Council award given out at the district level. Mt. Mitchell District can award up to two for this year. The NOMINATION FORM is due to Chase or Robert no later then Jan. 31st. To avoid possible disappointment, please do not advise nominee in any way of your action in his or her behalf.
Unit Leader Awards of Merit: Every unit leader can work to earn this award. There is a requirement form HERE.
New Unit Organizer Award is for those adults who establish a new pack, troop, crew, or ship with a chartered organization, a special silver knot on a yellow, green, and red background is available to wear on the uniform. William D. Boyce Award
Scouters Training Award: This award can be presented to registered Cub Scout adult leaders who have two years’ tenure in the pack and have completed position-specific training and other performance requirements designed to encourage and recognize those who give of their resources to make the pack successful. Scouters Key: This award is for adult leaders with three years’ tenure who have completed training and other performance requirements. Below are the 4 most common areas to work towards this award
Distinguished Commissioners Service Award is the highest recognition that can be given to a commissioner who has consistently engaged in distinguished and exceptional commissioner service resulting in significant, positive impact to youth, units, and a district and/or council.
