Friends of Scouting

The Boy Scouts of America has been shaping the lives of our youth since 1910. A Friend of Scouting provides a vital portion of the financial support we need to teach Scouting principles that will result in a positive influence on character, citizenship, and personal fitness. The youth of today are America’s future leaders. You can help shape that future by investing in Scouting today.

Friends of Scouting is the annual giving campaign of the Daniel Boone Council that helps provide funding for a quality Scouting program in western North Carolina. Scouting offers life-changing experiences youth cannot get anywhere else. Scouting makes the most of the little time parents have to positively impact their children. Friends of Scouting provides the funds needed to deliver a strong program to nearly 1,700 local youth. Your investment enables Scouts to accomplish countless good turn projects throughout the year, such as landscaping at local parks and churches, clean up and recycle programs, and much more.

Currently, the cost of delivering Scouting to nearly 1,700 youth in our Council is $175 per youth. Friends of Scouting is over 12% of the Council’s total budget. Each year, the Daniel Boone Council’s field staff organizes and implements campaigns in each of the 14 counties in Western North Carolina. In these campaigns, they ask for donations from community businesses, leaders and individuals.  They also visit each Scouting unit and talk to families about the State of the Council, the importance of Scouting and ask for their financial support.
