Some of the best weather, snow conditions, facilities, and terrain for cold weather camping in North America are offered through the OKPIK Adventure program at Charles L. Sommers base in Ely, Minnesota. The BSA high-adventure program directory is a service to all units desiring to locate a high-adventure program opportunity at any local council. The directory lists all council-operated high-adventure trekking programs that span at least five nights and six days. A few programs of lesser duration are included as specialty adventure programs.
